Just like the old allegation - that no matter which button you press, the lotus appears - here comes another “coincidence.” Shouldn’t someone be paying attention? For those trying to track the story: An affidavit attached to a letter (dated March 19,2019) sent by the Election Commission to political parties carried the seal of the BJP Kerala unit instead of the Election Commission’s seal. This is a first. We have often heard claims that, no matter which button is pressed on a voting machine, the lotus lights up. But this is the first time it appears as if the BJP and the Election Commission are using the same seal. Verified update: The document has been received by multiple parties. It has been cross-verified with at least two of the recipients. If LDF wins Kerala election, it will be wise to transition to a new CM instead of continuing with Vijayan as it would be prudent for LDF to start preparing its leadership for 2031. Shailaja would be an excellent choice, especially as she would become Kerala’s first woman CM.

Narrowly defined here, and sure to be rigorously questioned — but still an extraordinary feat, one the rest of India would do well to emulate. From many visits over 15 years, Kerala’s lack of slums & squalor, cleanliness, education, & coexistence stand out. A favourite state.
