Shabbat Shalom to MDA paramedics Henry Zaarour and Hali Amir, who reunited with Idan Gridi after helping save his life. After experiencing a cardiac emergency and suffering cardiac arrest upon arrival at the hospital, Idan was resuscitated by Henry and Hali, whose quick actions and advanced care restored his heartbeat and gave him a second chance. Recently, Idan welcomed them into his home to thank them in person for the lifesaving care they provided that day. As Shabbat begins, we thank MDA's paramedics, EMTs and volunteers for their dedication to saving lives across Israel every day.

Over the past year, 267,407 blood units were donated through Magen David Adom Blood Services, helping save the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients, trauma victims and new mothers across Israel. Among those donations were 45,986 first-time donors, demonstrating the continued commitment of individuals stepping forward to help others in times of need. Thank you to the volunteer blood donors whose generosity helps ensure lifesaving blood is available whenever and wherever it is needed.

World Blood Donor Day is a time to recognize the donors whose generosity helps save lives every day. Today, we're celebrating Maryland native Jeffrey Green, who recently reached his 100th blood donation with Magen David Adom in Israel. For decades, Jeffrey has made blood donation a regular part of his life, inspiring members of his family to become donors as well. This week, 21 volunteer Emergency Medical Responders from the Golan joined MDA's first responder network, receiving advanced medical response kits that will enable them to provide lifesaving care not only during their ambulance shifts, but whenever and wherever emergencies occur. Their commitment strengthens MDA's emergency response capabilities across the Jordan Region and helps ensure lifesaving care reaches those in need even faster. Thank you to these dedicated volunteers for answering the call to serve their communities.

When a woman in labor calls MDA, help now comes in a new form: a trained volunteer midwife. Gila Zarbiv is one of dozens of midwives participating in MDA's First Contractions program, an innovative initiative that brings specialized maternal care directly into Israel's emergency response system. Since launching in 2024, the program has connected volunteer midwives with MDA dispatchers nationwide, ensuring women experiencing labor, postpartum emergencies, and pregnancy-related complications can receive expert care when and where they need it most. For Gila, a hospital midwife, researcher, mother of four, and MDA volunteer, the mission is bigger than responding to emergencies. "It's understanding what took place before, what is happening now, what needs to happen next, and how to follow up." From helping women in labor to treating life-threatening postpartum complications, MDA's volunteer midwives are changing the way women receive care across Israel, one call at a time. Because every mother deserves expert care when it matters most.

On October 7 and in the months that followed, Magen David Adom's paramedics, EMTs, and volunteers risked their lives to save others. This #MDAMonday, we honor the courage, dedication, and humanity of Israel's lifesaving teams.

When MDA volunteer EMT Michal Luzon received a phone call that her son had been hit by a car, she rushed to the scene fearing the worst. There, she found two familiar faces already fighting to save his life. MDA EMT Roy Gimpowitz and paramedic Orian Lukatz quickly provided lifesaving treatment to 8-year-old Itai, stabilizing him before transporting him to the hospital with severe injuries. Today, Itai is in rehabilitation and getting stronger every day. At a recent reunion, Michal shared, "As far as Itai is concerned, Roy and Orian are the people who saved his life.” This is what Magen David Adom is all about, highly trained responders showing up when every second counts, even for one of their own.

Two days later, and we're still smiling. 💙 Thank you to everyone who marched with AFMDA, waved from the sidelines, and showed your support for Magen David Adom. What an incredible day of community, pride, and purpose.

There's nothing that breaks my heart like the story of Israeli paramedic ⚕️🩺 Amit Man on October 7th. Amit was 22 years old and had her whole life in front of her. She was the paramedic of Kibbutz Be'eri and at 6: 30 AM as soon as Hamas rockets began firing from Gaza she rushed to the clinic to save lives. What's the help of an armed member of the Kibbutz Amit barricaded in the clinic treating the wounded for hours and hours until eventually at 2 PM Gaza's terrorists murdered her and everyone in the clinic. She loved singing and was very gifted, but more than anything, she lived helping others and saving lives. May her memory be a blessing 🕯️
