a software engineer burst a blood vessel in his eye from job hunting stress 9 months jobless. lost the offer he thought he had to a guy who used more AI and shipped twice as fast he wrote clean code, named everything right, still lost everyone says companies stopped valuing craft. Can you catch bugs in your code before they happen? These guys did it. And they didn’t use any AI to do it. They built an open source tool that looks at your code and points at the files most likely to break soon. To test it, they checked 21 real projects. They looked at each file the way it was 6 months ago, then waited to see which ones actually broke. The tool called it right most of the time. It even worked on a project it had never seen before. It beats the usual tricks people rely on, like “check whatever changed last” or “check whatever broke before.” And it tells you why a file looks risky, in plain terms. Just reading your code. Crazy

if you want to learn system design from first principles try this resource an AI coach that teaches you live on a shared canvas most resources hand you a definition and move on this one makes you derive it today it walked me through databases by asking one question first: why do they even exist? the answer came from three needs durability so data survives a restart organization so you can find and update it later safe sharing so many users write without corrupting anything only after that did the word "database" carry weight the diagram drew itself as I reasoned out loud temporary memory drops everything on restart a database holds it, ready to find later every box on that canvas came from a decision I made out loud this is how system design should be taught link in replies
