@SkySports please tell your #RyderCup presenters that one of them is breathing very annoyingly into the microphone during the silence moments.... Please stop 🙏🎤⛳
We were delighted to support the Garda Blue Heroes Foundation on their annual International Police Association trip to the Aran Islands last week. 💙🚓
This incredible initiative brings smiles, excitement, and unforgettable experiences to children undergoing long-term medical treatment, by making them honorary Gardaí and involving them in unique events like this one. Seeing the joy and sense of adventure on their faces as they explored the Aran Islands reminded us all of the importance of community, compassion, and giving back.
A huge thank you to Little Blue Heroes for the amazing work you do. We’re proud to play a small part in helping these little heroes create lifelong memories. 💙👏
With deep sorrow, I share the news of the passing of His Holiness, the Pope. The world has lost a compassionate leader, whose guidance and unwavering faith inspired millions. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the privilege of visiting the Vatican last year for a special police service, representing the International Police Association as Vice President. It was a profound experience to stand in the presence of such a remarkable figure, who dedicated his life to peace, love, and service to humanity. My thoughts and prayers are with the Catholic community and all who mourn this great loss. Rest in peace, Your Holiness. 🙏

#Day15 back home here in my part of Ireland this morning. Here’s the power still not yet restored map.
From today, they’ve also imposed a new and permanent speed limit drop on our roads to 60kmh. A drop of 20kmh (from 80). To make sure we can’t get to Dublin as quickly as we could say yesterday. Or to our local shop. Making everything that bit further away, that bit less efficient. You see, when the people that imposed these laws go to Roundstone or the Ring of Kerry, they’re on their holidays, so there’s no rush.

Enjoying my @GuinnessIreland and @KnappWhiskey at @ShannonAirport got me thinking about the recently suggested 2-Drink Limit in Airports
In my opinion the recent suggestion of implementing a 2-drink limit in airports is nothing short of an impractical, knee-jerk reaction to concerns over drunken behavior in terminals and on flights. While ensuring passenger safety is crucial, this blanket restriction raises more questions than it provides answers—and worse, unless it’s enforced globally across all airports and jurisdictions, it will remain a futile exercise in policy-making.
The biggest flaw in this idea is its lack of international enforcement. If one country imposes a 2-drink limit while another allows unrestricted alcohol consumption, what’s stopping travelers from getting their fill before reaching a restricted airport? Without a universal standard, this rule would be easy to sidestep and ultimately pointless.
Then there’s the duty-free paradox. How would authorities control a passenger who purchases a bottle of whiskey or vodka from duty-free and starts drinking from it? Would security confiscate an open bottle? Would retailers be forced to seal purchases more rigorously? If so, would that mean yet another layer of overcomplicated regulations in an already confusing airport experience?
Many airport lounges provide free-flowing alcohol as part of their premium services. Will they be required to monitor passengers and cut them off after two drinks? Would bartenders be held accountable if someone manages to slip an extra drink? This could fundamentally undermine the purpose of airport lounges, which exist to provide comfort, relaxation, and premium services.
If authorities are genuinely concerned about alcohol-related incidents in airports and on flights, a more targeted approach would make more sense. Instead of a one-size-fits-all restriction, why not:
✔️ Implement stricter penalties for disruptive inebriated passengers
✔️ Train airport staff to identify intoxicated individuals and prevent them from boarding
✔️ Encourage airlines to enforce their own limits onboard, rather than imposing an arbitrary restriction on airport establishments
A 2-drink limit in airports is unenforceable, inconsistent, and fundamentally flawed. Without global cooperation, it’s nothing more than performative policy-making—one that could lead to more confusion, black-market drinking, and enforcement headaches. If authorities are serious about tackling alcohol-fueled incidents, they need to think smarter, not harder.
What do you think?
