Researchers talk about "reading for pleasure" & modelling it for Ss. Need more of this with math. I call it “mathing for joy.” Adults/Ts/Ss modelling doing math (outside of school tasks) for enjoyment. Could alleviate math anxiety.

Math journals are a powerful tool to support students’ social emotional learning. The rights prompts allow students to reflect on their learning, develop self-awareness, and build resilience.

Such a fan of open middle questions! Adding the classic line “Using the digits 1 to 9 at most once each time…” can also facilitate rich mathematical discussions about regrouping. Possible answers: 63-15=48, 63-48= 15, 63-45=18, 63-18=45
