That last question is the one we obsess over. Our bet: in the agent era, sandboxes stop being disposable scratch space and become stateful — save, fork, rewind. v0.3.0 is our first step. The 70ms snapshot & 99.5% less I/O aren't the point — they're what make "treat state as a first-class primitive" actually practical. What would you build if every agent had a save button? 👇
Your AI agent just nuked its own sandbox? Cool — blink, and it's back to the moment before things went sideways.
A month ago Tencent Cloud open-sourced Cube Sandbox, a microVM-isolated runtime for AI agents. Today's update lands the trio we're most excited about: snapshot, clone, rollback — essentially a time machine and a clone trick for your agent.
Checkpoint when the sandbox is healthy, let the agent do whatever, rollback to rewind on failure, or clone to fan out dozens of fully-isolated copies in seconds. Sub-100 ms rollback, dozens of clones in seconds. Same sandbox_id — the agent just keeps going.
Shipping alongside it: a "Lobster" WebUI that turns checkpoint timelines, time-travel, and one-to-many cloning into a few mouse clicks.
Coming next: built-in high-performance content-aware network control and credential vaulting — so you don't just isolate where the agent runs, you control what it can reach.
E2B-compatible. Self-hostable on a normal CVM. ⭐ if it helps. github.com/TencentCloud/C…
Cube Sandbox now has a blog 📝
We're looking for guest posts — anything around AI agent sandboxes, isolated runtimes, agent infra, or war stories from running agents in production.

🎉 CubeSandbox v0.2.2 is out. What changed since v0.2.0:
🔌 E2B compatibility now reaches the protocol layer — default port aligned to 49983. Switching from E2B? You won't even touch your proxies or firewall rules.
🛠️ A batch of top user-reported stability issues fixed: cubecli exec panic on EOF, duplicate template image jobs, PVM ext4 materialization, configurable storage timeouts.
📦 Quick-start image trimmed from 4 GB → ~100 MB. Overseas mirror now live.
🛡️ First round of CVE handling for the v0.2 series.

CubeSandbox v0.2.0 has just been released! The PVM deployment mode is now officially available 🎊
The question that everyone had repeatedly asked before, "Can it be run on a regular cloud server?" - It's now ready.
✅ No need for bare metal or nested virtualization. A regular CVM can launch the Cube sandbox.
✅ One-click script installation, supported by mainstream OS distributions such as DEB and RPM series.
✅ Tencent Cloud has conducted production-level large-scale verification and has made it open-source in the OpenCloudOS kernel. In the future, it can support direct installation via yum install on OpenCloudOS.
✅ The Web console has been launched simultaneously, providing visualizations for clusters, sandboxes, and templates.

Today, Tencent Cloud officially open-sources Cube Sandbox! (github.com/TencentCloud/C…)
Built on RustVMM and KVM, it is a high-performance, out-of-the-box secure sandbox service. Refined and battle-tested in Tencent Cloud’s production environments for years with massive workloads, it solves core challenges including slow startup, rigid deployment, and high migration costs (E2B-compatible).
🥳We just open-sourced Cube Sandbox! An instant, concurrent, secure and lightweight sandbox runtime for AI Agents.
Built with RustVMM and KVM, it achieves the perfect balance of security and performance:
→ Sub-60ms cold start (2.5-50x faster)
→ Under 5MB memory overhead per instance (6x less memory)
→ Dedicated kernel per sandbox (hardware-level isolation)
→ Thousands of concurrent sandboxes per node
→ 100% E2B SDK compatible. Swap the endpoint, zero code changes
Full-stack capability, one-click deployment. 3 steps to spin up your own private AI sandbox 👇 🔗
