"Not Too Young To Run" is a scam. So this young man, who should be in his 30s, was appointed to head the South East Development Commission and was given ₦16.6 billion in federal funds. The guy allegedly began misusing the money to the point where he claimed to have paid ₦153 million in rent for a single office in Abuja and recorded ₦2.5 billion in unexplained expenditures. His reckless spending was so excessive that even his senior in the game of reckless spending, Senator Orji Kalu, appeared dumbfounded and at some point started lamenting, having seen someone who might be about to break his record in the department of recklessness. This young man is likely one of those who say the old politicians should step aside and allow the youth to lead. Well, he was given the opportunity, and look at what he's doing. He couldn't point to a single reasonable thing he achieved with the billions entrusted to him. "Not Too Young To Run" sounds good in theory, but in this part of the world, I would say it is often "too young to rule." Many of the young people who have found themselves in government have ended up performing worse than their older counterparts. The former governor of Kogi State was, and still is, a relatively young man, yet we all saw the allegations and records associated with public fund mismanagement during his tenure. Let me wrap this up by saying that leadership is not about age; it is about character, competence, discipline, and accountability. Being young does not automatically make someone a better leader, just as being old does not automatically make someone a bad one. Gov Alex Otti is old and doing well. What matters is how public trust and public funds are managed.

Bandits were even begging for food from their victims families during that cashless era. They were accepting anything that comes their way because there was no enough cash to go about their daily life. That era remains the biggest nightmare for bandits and that remains the best first step to smoking them out. Those saying the cashless was introduced to stop Tinubu, now that Tinubu is the president, he can reintroduce it the way he likes (with all the amendments) but we definitely need it to urgently stop this menace and get rid of these stup*d animals.

Bandits feel arrogant because of the excessive money they control. They use huge money to buy informants, buy food stuffs at prices higher than market price, buy other supplies at prices way higher than normal market price which gives sellers reason to take risk and transact with them due to the unusual profits. A bottle of Coke is over 6 times the normal price in the bush. A piece of maggi star goes for more than 500. Drugs are extremely expensive in their area. A liter of fuel is sold at almost 5 times. And people are taking risks to supply them because they have money and in abundance. Cashless policy came and disrupted all these lucrative ventures and sent them (bandits) into hunger and starvation because there was no enough money to buy and people could not take risks through bank transfers. We need it back if we truly want to start from somewhere in addressing this situation.

Cashless policy remains the most effective policy that almost eradicated banditry. It blocked the greatest enabler which is cash from getting to the bandits. There was obvious and appreciable decline in kidnappings during that time. I stand to be corrected.

At a time when corruption scandals are measured in trillions, Mallam Adamu Adamu’s life is a reminder that integrity in public service is still possible. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Adamu Adamu belongs in the tradition of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Nigeria’s first Prime Minister, and Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto—leaders who chose duty over personal gain and left behind legacies of honour and service. He entered office poor. He left office poor. Yet in doing so, he preserved something far more enduring: his name.
