Check your privelage here friend - I know you mean well but this is a disservice to every anxious, non-doctor parent on here who will go into my ER expecting an MRI, and become enraged when they can’t get one, and blame me - the ER doc because a “neurosurgeon told me”. I’m sure you can get one at your hospitals ER because of who you are, but most will not have that pull.

Prescribing a peptide but then outsourcing the risk management to the local ER is peak negligence-maxing. If you aren't equipped to manage the side effects of the peptides, you shouldn't be prescribing them.

@adityaag The nuance is medical advice vs medical knowledge. You could get the same knowledge from reading a textbook. Also, ERs can’t turn you away because of EMTALA laws which were formed to stop institutions from dumping unprofitable patients to the hospital next door.

@northwoods1980 More interestingly, what would the willingness to pay have been? Would he have paid a 5x premium? 10? For everything else, paying a premium for a best in class product is a no brainer.

@northwoods1980 Hypothetical. But I hear this a lot from patients and I always wonder what the price premium is for best in class. Academic medicine has, fortunately or unfortunately, turned best in class into prestige farming instead of voting with dollars.

Exclusively pushing AI tools onto medical students and residents is going to seriously kneecap the next generation of physicians. Excessive utilization stops reasoning skills from ever forming. It’s like giving full self driving to someone who can’t drive - you never know when to take over

Too many people believe they are medical mysteries and that AI will solve their “complex” healthcare issues. 90%+ of the time, its not a diagnostic/treatment mystery - its time, compliance, the human body’s reaction to intervention and lifestyle modifications. 10% - yes I agree
