Unpopular opinion I don't believe an agent can build an application from scratch and maintain it properly with minimal human involvement. All those stories like: "Now I don’t prompt Claude anymore, I have loops that are running. My job is to write loops." I just can't buy them. After yet another attempt to build a reasonably large feature, my experience is that once the context grows to ~300k tokens, after ~3 feedback cycles on a fairly simple app, the agent gets confused, starts going in circles, and keeps trying to add things on top of its own solution even when you explicitly tell that it is the shit solution and needs to be done differently. A simple recent example. Opus 4.8, Claude Code. I decided to implement a medium-sized feature that required a DB schema change. I'll simplify the table names, but the actual case was just as straightforward. There's a products table with a FK type_id pointing to a types table. The new feature requires products to have multiple types, i.e. a many-to-many relationship. What does the agent do? It creates a product_all_types table with columns product_id and type_name (not a FK, just a string). Instead of creating a standard junction table like product_types, it comes up with something completely bizarre. Even after I explicitly pointed this out, its explanation was roughly: "type_id in products will reference the product's primary type, while product_all_types will store the remaining types." WTF? Where did the concepts of "primary" and "secondary" types even come from? And even if I actually needed a primary type, why not store primary_type_id as a FK in products and still have a junction table for the rest, preserving database integrity? The most interesting part is that after my objection, it refused to change the design. I assume that's one of the new Opus 4.8 behaviors. And this is basic stuff. I have no idea how many tokens get burned in feedback loops so that a reviewer sub-agent can catch mistakes made by a developer sub-agent and then get them fixed, but with problems like this, we shouldn't be afraid that AI will replace us all.

I didn’t understand two things: 1. If source files in raw/ are immutable and shouldn’t be updated manually, does it mean that I need to do all, even small changes with an agent?
