Worth adding the scale context, if people push back on the capacity build vs US counterparts. 500k GPU-hours on Isambard is roughly a few days on the full 5,448-chip machine, drawing ~5MW. US labs are now building gigawatt-class clusters, 100-200x that draw. So I guess the UK isn't trying to out-spend on compute. The bet is that sovereignty + efficiency is now a procurement criterion.

Former Microsoft VP says Microsoft missed the AI wave like the internet and mobile, as Copilot scales back in Windows 11 Microsoft spent $37.5B per quarter on AI. I am interested in the division of responsibility between a traditional consultant and a product employed FDE. My thoughts are the low value data labelling/structuring work will be outsourced, while higher value strategy at Anthropic for instance.
