Have you ever been asked to give a review after going to eat at a cafe or restaurant? And you’re completely willing to do it – after all you’ve had a great experience! Except they then hand you a card with a QR code on it that takes you to a Google Reviews page… And you have to sign in to your Google account… And then you lose the page so you have to find their page manually… And so on and so forth… Until you don’t want to leave a review anymore and you think, was there not a simpler way to do this? I mean, the other day I was at the self-checkout in Tesco’s with my kid – I bagged everything up and was ready to go when she practically shouted: “Mummy can I press it?! Can I tell them how happy I was?!” I looked down at what she was pointing to, to see the checkout screen displaying an array of colourful buttons to answer ONE simple question: “How satisfied are you with your experience today?” And I just thought, wow, how simple is that?? Practically shaking with excitement, she pressed the green smiley face and off we went. See, the easier you make it for someone to give you feedback, the more likely they are to do it. And our sector desperately needs to rethink their surveys. They need to be shorter, simpler, and embedded into natural workflows. If we don’t, we run the risk of losing or missing out on crucial bits of data. What’s the easiest survey or feedback system you’ve ever come across?
