امروز با امیلی تورنبری رئیس کمیته روابط خارجی مجلس عوام بریتانیا و شماری دیگر از اعضای این کمیته دیدار داشتم تا درباره وضعیت داخلی ایران، سرکوب مردم ایران توسط جمهوری اسلامی، و ضرورت فوری قرار دادن ملت ایران در مرکز سیاست بریتانیا گفتوگو کنیم. بهروشنی تأکید کردم که معامله با رژیمی که در دی ماه بیش از ۴۰ هزار ایرانی را به قتل رسانده، نهتنها از نظر اخلاقی غیرقابلقبول است، بلکه از نظر راهبردی نیز خطایی بزرگ خواهد بود. هر توافقی که به حفظ این رژیم یا بقایای آن بینجامد، محکوم به شکست است. مردم ایران چنین توافقی را نخواهند پذیرفت. با حمایت جامعه جهانی یا بدون آن، مردم ایران این رژیم را سرنگون خواهند کرد و آزادی به ایران بازخواهد گشت.
