Fulfilling the Great Commission should never be pitted against our convictions in sound doctrine. In fact, God often uses Christian convictions to win the lost in dark cultures. To fulfill the Great Commission, we need a greater emphasis on sound doctrine not a reduction of it.

I see that this article is generating a lot of attention. In fairness to CT, it is a point-counterpoint essay with other viewpoints on the matter. And secondly, if you read the article (how many didn't before piling on?), it actually wrestles with the complexity of sterilization, and that is hardly routine for how most evangelicals think about the topic. So, yes, while I disagree with the article's ultimate conclusion, it demonstrates far more mature thinking than I typically see elsewhere. Regardless, I'll simply weigh in with this: With the exception of genuine threats to the woman's health, we should not encourage the intentional maiming of healthy body parts even for ostensibly reasonable ends, especially body parts whose organizing capacities are central to the teleological ordering of male-female complementarity. Vasectomies and sterilization are a third rail in evangelical circles, and we need far more sustained attention to this than we presently have.

Progressive Christianity is not Christianity. Any movement or thirty-something "seminarian" that denies the core doctrines of the Christian faith has, by definition, departed from Christianity itself. And anyone—even certain New York Times columnists—who aids and abets such heresies by insisting that such a malformed Christianity still counts as Christianity is not offering serious commentary on the Christian faith.

If John MacArthur would've had an issue with this, I highly doubt Washer would be preaching at the Shepherd's conference. Not to mention, MacArthur invited Washer numerous times over the years to preach, seemingly have NO ISSUES with his preaching. The amount of Reformed men (lately) who get all effeminate and their panties in a wad over Washer's preaching is fascinating to behold. Be thankful for the type of preacher Washer is, and the impact he's had. Stop nitpicking and accusing him of "legalism" because his preaching brings "reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching." (2 Timothy 4) -Bryan Schrank (moderator of Ryle's X page) P.S. MacArthur died July 14, 2025. Last years Shepherd conference was in early March 2025. He was not on his "death bed". By all indications, MacArthur was fully aware and cognizant during that conversation. ALSO, Washer is not out of bounds doing what he did. Think of all the "Reformed pastors" who have lived a double life and have ship wrecked their ministry the past decade. It's good to "ask people about their souls and how their walk with Christ is going" no matter who it is. Washer was loving MacArthur.

Wow! I have studied the Bible for some forty years now and have never read anywhere in the Bible that Zionism is a necessary part of the gospel Message. Tsarfati just preached a false gospel! BEWARE! Yes, God does say concerning Israel, "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you" (e.g., Gen. 12:3; 27:27-29; Numb. 24:9; Deut. 30:7; Jer. 30:16; Ps. 122:6). But being cursed by God does not mean being beyond the pale of salvation, for if that is what is meant, the nation of Israel would be beyond the pale of salvation, but they are not! Yet, they are right now under the curse of the law and have been for quite some time (Deut. 28:15-68; 29:14-21). The nation of Israel, as a whole, have rejected their Messiah, King, Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ. Their rejection of Jesus Christ has left them under the curse of the law (e.g., Deut. 27:26; Dan. 9:7-16; Gal. 3:10-14). Read God's Word! It is a lie to say you have to agree with everything the Israeli government is doing, or IDF is doing, or the current prime minister is doing, or what different groups of Jews or individual Jews around the world are doing. The prophets who were sent by God to Israel didn't agree everything Israel was doing! Jesus, God in human flesh, the Messiah, Savior, and King of Israel didn't agree with what Israel was doing! Jesus condemned the most respected Jewish religious leaders. Think biblically! Were the prophets of God and Jesus cursed? Of course not, don't fall for the lie, Israel was cursed because they agreed to abide by all things written in the Law of Moses or suffer the promised curses (Ex. 19:8; 24:3, 7; Deut. 5:27; 26:17; 27:26; Gal. 3:10). The bulk of Jews today are unbelievers. They have rejected Jesus Christ. They are dead in their trespasses and sins and Satan is working in all the sons of disobedience (Eph. 2:1-3). Jews who reject Jesus Christ are held captive by Satan to do His will (2 Tim. 2:26). Jews who reject Jesus Christ are of their father the devil (Jn. 8:44). They lie in the power of Satan just like all unbelieving Gentiles (1 Jn. 5:19). Think what the Word of God says about all wh do not know Christ, Jew or Gentile. Think why God sent many prophets to prophesy judgment against Israel. It was because Israel, as a nation, was in sin. Israel went into the Babylonian captivity because of sin. Jerusalem was destroyed by Titus because of sin. God was faithful to bring the curses of the Law upon the Jews which they agreed to suffer if they did not abide by all things in the Law of Moses. The Jews, as a whole, rejected the promised forerunner of the Messiah, John the Baptist (Mt. 17:12). The Jews, as a whole, did not recognize the day of their visitation by their own Messiah (Lk. 19:41-44). Read what the Word of God says about the Jewish people and the nation of Israel: "When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. “For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.” (Luke 19:41–44) Thus, Israel remains under the curse and will remain under the curse, until they repent of their sin and place their faith in Jesus Christ, crucified for sinners, dead, buried, and resurrected from the dead (Zech. 12:10). To "bless Israel" is to desire their repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ. It is not supporting everything the Israeli government, groups of Jews, or individual Jews around the world are doing. Jesus and the prophets did not support any evil the Jews were doing in their day and we shouldn't support any evil Jews are doing in our day, especially the rejection of Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, the Jews are still God's chosen nation. Not chosen unto salvation, but chosen to receive the Word of God, the covenants of promise, to produce the Messiah and Savior of the World, Jesus Christ, and have an exalted place in Christ's future millennial kingdom. But each individual Jew must repent and believe in Jesus Christ alone to be saved from the curse that abides on them and be blessed with the New Covenant that Christ inaugurated in His blood (Lk. 22:20; 1 Cor. 11:25; Heb. 12:24). During the Daniel's 70th week, many Jews among the cursed nation of Israel will be saved (Zech. 12:10; Rom. 11; Rev. 7:4; 14:1-3). But each individual Jewish person must repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation if they want to get out from under the curse of the Law of Moses and be blessed with the New Covenant promises (Ezek. 36:24-32; Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 8:7-9:28). Don't believe the lie that "Zionism" means supporting everything any Jewish person, group of Jews, or Israeli government might do. Don't believe the lie that "Zionism" is a necessary part of the gospel. Don't believe the lie that if you reject modern day definitions of "Zionism" that you are cursed, that you are beyond the pale of salvation. Cursed is anyone, even an angel from heaven, who preaches a false gospel (Gal. 1:6-9).

Scottish preacher William Still in his book, The Work of the Pastor, rightly wrote: “The pastor is called upon to feed the sheep. (Now that may seem quite obvious.) He is called upon to feed the sheep even if the sheep do not want to be fed. He is certainly not to become an entertainer of goats. Let goats entertain goats, and let them do it in Goatland. You will certainly not turn goats into sheep by pandering to their goatishness.”

You are suggesting that we seek to fulfill the prophecy of 2 Timothy 4:3-4 to our own hurt: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths." (2 Timothy 4:3–4) You are pitting deep theological sermons against personal holiness and sanctification when the exact opposite is true. Deep theological sermons are the kind of sermons every preacher is commanded to preach. Shallow sermons, make shallow, undiscerning christians. Deep, doctrinal/theological sermons that are practically applied (systematic theology) is what makes healthy churches. There are no healthy churches with shallow, non-doctrinal preaching. The calling of every Pastor, teacher, elder, and overseer is to constantly teach and model sound doctrine. You can't have deep worship with a shallow knowledge of doctrine. The deeper your knowledge of doctrine, the deeper your worship will be. Worship is to be "in spirit," i.e., from the heart, and "truth," i.e., sound doctrine (Jn. 4:23-24). (Acts 20:20) “For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God."
