That face users make when your app finally solves the problem.
Not when they see your paywall.
Mobile subscriptions are getting harder because users are tired.
Tired of:
• “Start free trial” before seeing anything
• 7-screen onboarding
• vague promises
• locked features
• another $9.99/month app
The winning apps don’t sell subscriptions first.
They sell proof.
Show the result.
Create the “oh wow” moment.
Then ask for money.
Because the paywall is not the product.
The outcome is.
Vibe coding changed the indie game.
Building an MVP is no longer the hardest part.
The hard parts now are:
• choosing a painful niche
• explaining the value in 5 seconds
• getting distribution
• making users come back
• charging without feeling generic
Code got cheaper.
Taste, positioning and distribution got more expensive.
I changed the App Store screenshots.
Conversion went from 14.07% to 38.99%.
Still early data.
Still testing.
But this is exactly why ASO is not only about keywords.
The first screenshots decide if people understand your app — or just scroll away.
ASO is not only keywords.
If you don’t test your screenshots and app icon, you’re mostly guessing.
For this app, I’m running a screenshot test now.
Original page: 9.37% conversion
Treatment A: 7.49%
Treatment B: 10.04%
Small difference, but important signal.
Screenshots and icons can change everything:
more taps,
more installs,
better organic growth.
Testing is a must-have if you want to understand ASO.
I don’t believe low downloads mean an app is dead.
Sometimes it just means the product isn’t clear enough yet.
The value is not obvious.
The screenshots don’t sell it.
The keywords are weak.
The onboarding needs work.
That’s not failure.
That’s feedback.
So I’ll keep improving
Small numbers, but moving in the right direction.
32 organic downloads in 7 days.
$7.01 in sales.
Not impressive yet.
But it’s progress.
Organic growth on the App Store is hard, especially for small indie apps.
But I’m not giving up on this one.
