Definitely agree, was being slightly tongue in cheek about the rather primitive primatives available for data right now. That said, you can go a long way with basic polling and simple pub/sub models. Lean always better. Do the unscalable. Etc I would like to see more in the area of context nanagement and data tools for agents.

Devs are kidding themselves they can add an edge on top of what models can do. This is a way to get comfort and keep feeling smarter than AI. In reality, these edges don’t last long. Skills are patches before models and harnesses are updated. Only the top 1% will generate real alpha with orchestration and complex tools on top of models and harnesses. The rest of us are like you.
Types in typescript enabled me to deliver much better custom library code (business logic) with a reduced number of tests, compared to Ruby. That said, I’m now favouring Ruby on Rails as it’s way more idiomatic and easier for agents to code with. Typescript / Nextjs just isn’t as good of an ecosystem in comparison. And isn’t as well documented, and has continuously changed shape. Much harder for AI to get right, too many ways to do the same thing, etc.
