In developed countries I think *most* people don’t want the volatility, the perceived risk, the “hassle” of self-custody. *most* people aren’t overly concerned with privacy, self-sovereignty, let alone separating money from state. I do think btc has given us the OPTION for those things whereas they were not present before.
