Interesting survey of diagnostic pathway to bronchiectasis; points to risks in the lack of public/primary care awareness of bronchiectasis. Avoiding diagnostic delay is of the essence in PB where reversibility is a possibility for some; how do we sensitise non-specialists to PB?

#BTSWinter2023 Fantastic presentation by @Shoemelia getting us thinking about the mucociliary escalator, both primary and secondary ciliary dysfunction, and amplitude of ciliary beat. Also #ThinkPCD in ideopathic bronchiectasis even when it’s not ‘barn door’.

Fantastic talk by Prof Parameswaran Nair on the role of mucus in asthma! CT mucus plugging associated with worsening ACQ, FEV1 & clinical symptoms. No significant changes with biologics. Airway clearance techniques are important treatments in addition to biologics! #BTSwinter2023

@_bronchiectasis Interesting theme. Is it necessary to choose between disease and ‘treatable traits’ approach? However, approaching our CYP with chronic wet cough with the same seriousness in addressing treatable traits as we do those with PB might improve outcomes under muco-obstructive umbrella

A new take: a classification describing muco-obstructive lung disease. Is it Chronic Suppurative Lung Disease but a more accessible term? Debate? Asthma excluded which is interesting given the asthma phenotype that is ‘mucus hypersecretors’ & a subgroup developing bronchiectasis
