Medication Safety Starts at Home! Medications—whether prescription or over-the-counter—are intended to treat, heal, and make you feel better. But if not handled responsibly, medications can be dangerous. Keep your home medication regimen safe by following these safety tips: 🏠 💊 • Keep an active list of all your medications, vitamins, and supplements to share with your doctors and in case of an emergency. • Store all medications out of the sight and reach of children and pets. Consider a locking medicine box or small safe to secure potentially dangerous medications • Always read and follow instructions regarding how to take the medicine and never take medication in the dark to prevent accidentally grabbing the wrong bottle or dosage. • Only take prescriptions directly assigned to you by a doctor and never share with others. • Use alarms, smartphone apps, or a pillbox to keep your dosing schedule consistent. • Dispose of unused medications properly and avoid flushing down the sink or toilet. Check with your local pharmacy or use the DEA Drug Disposal Locator to find nearby take-back programs.

A major milestone is taking shape! 🎉💙 Yesterday, PIH Health celebrated the topping out of our new Whittier Medical Office Building at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Putnam Street—marking the placement of the final structural beam and significant progress in construction of this state-of-the-art facility. Scheduled to open in 2027, the new building represents a major investment in expanding access to high-quality care close to home. The facility will include an urgent care center, imaging services, an outpatient surgery center, eye clinic, primary care, and a wide range of specialty physician offices. #EmployeeSpotlight: Meet Tara, a registered nurse at the PIH Health Women’s Center La Mirada.💙 With 13 years at PIH Health, Tara says that the most rewarding part of her job are the lasting relationships she builds with obstetrics patients as she supports them through pregnancy and motherhood. “I have been in this department for more than 5 years, and during that time I’ve had the privilege of caring for some patients through three pregnancies,” shares Tara. “Seeing those relationships continue to grow over the years has been incredibly meaningful.” Tara says the teamwork and support within her department make PIH Health feel like family. “We care for women during some of the most vulnerable and important moments in their lives, which is why we are committed to always putting our patients first and ensuring they feel safe, supported, and compassionately cared for,” says Tara. Outside of work, Tara is a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and loves spending time with her 2 1/2-year-old grandson, who she calls “the light of my life.” Thank you, Tara, for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to our patients and community! 👏
