Now his administration is deploying NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS to threaten people — including journalists — with JAIL for getting too close. Hearn told the Washington Post he stopped after a 52-mile bike ride, reached in to feel a piece of the liner that had detached from the bottom of the pool, and was arrested moments later. "I didn't vandalize anything," he said. "By the time I realized what was going on, I was being put in handcuffs." A 67-year-old Olympian is in handcuffs for touching peeling paint. Trump, desperate to deflect blame for his failed renovation, took to Truth Social, claiming "vandals" had poured "corrosive chemicals" into the pool and cut a "250-foot long-gash" into it — demanding "Years in jail!" The real story isn't vandalism. It's a president who botched a multimillion-dollar project, then weaponized the National Guard to silence the people pointing it out — including the free press. MacFarlane: Let me tell you about the five arrests. They're not major cases. They are citations. If the DOJ wants to make this a major case and charge these people with felonies, they have to go to a grand jury. And though grand jury deliberations are secretive. In a closed room, you might hear the laughter outside the grand jury room. If they try to bring this case to a DC grand jury, it's not going to fly.  At the reflecting pool, you have a smell that's emanating now that is reminiscent of a high school locker room. You have a police force and National Guard presence that is profound. It's like a jewel heist from the muppet caper is going to happen. You have so many police hanging out there, and it seems to be a misappropriation of resources.

If you steal a paint chip it's 10 years in prison but take what you want from our Capitol, that's worth a pardon.

President Trump has for years incorrectly described the 10-year *maximum* *discretionary* prison sentence for destruction of federal property as a mandatory minimum all offenders automatically get. They very much do not.

@gregghenson Obama didn’t try to take over. He let the proper departments follow legal procedures. It is not the same.

@amuse @emilymiller Trump skipped the permitting and normal princesses. He is responsible for the chosen contractors. He praised the contractors before they started work.

@emilymiller Emily Miller is not a journalist. She simply provides propaganda to please the Pres. There is 24-hour video of the pool that the White House does not want released. It was not vandalized. The contractor applied the sealant and paint incorrectly and should be held liable.

For the people questioning my experience: I’ve spent 30+ years as a DC9 union painter working around steel, bridges, industrial coatings, epoxy systems, primers, grinding, and surface preparation. That’s me working on the side of the Verrazzano Bridge, and volunteering at the MLK Center painting structural steel.
