NO WORLD CUP FOR EMPIRE Prominent human rights activist and Black Agenda Report editor Ajamu Baraka has delivered a scathing indictment of the United States as the host of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, arguing that a nation “at war with its own citizens, potentially at war with visitors” should be disqualified from hosting the global tournament. “FIFA is so fixated on the possibility of making some money that they are violating their own standards,” Baraka said. Baraka warned that the US is “prepared to violate the rights of all non-European people who may be visitors,” with ICE immigration enforcement potentially targeting fans who “look like [they] don’t belong” or speak another language. He stated that “Racial profiling… is now legal. You can be stopped and asked for your papers, like in South Africa”. The most sustained boycott movement has emerged from Africa.
