AI made Architecture important again. That was my main take away from the @RubyConfAT in Vienna. With all the agents doing coding for us, this is now the biggest responsibility for humans. Keep your Rails app well modularized, use packwerk to enforce boundaries.
Still thinking about RubyConf Austria in Vienna I got to talk with José Valim, Obie Fernandez, Dave Thomas and Chad Fowler. If you know the profound love I have for Ruby history and lore…. I can’t imagine anything better (Not even counting how it was THE PERFECT conf FULL of amazing people)
Remember when being a 40 year old coder was a meme? Now I feel like a 30-60 year old veteran Rubyist is like gold dust for what they can do with a modern coding tool @chadfowler really nailed this at his talk last week. Rubyists led the conversation on so many important movements and shine in change Extreme programming; tdd; bdd; convention over configuration Maximizing joy and letting one human hold a whole app in their head WE WERE BUILT FOR THIS ERA
Last weekend we had an amazing time at @RubyConfAT - inspiring Ruby talks, the spirit of classical Vienna, and wonderful people all around. Thank you to everyone who made it so memorable. We came home with great memories and inspiration for wroclove.rb 2027! Stay tuned ⭐
