Maximize Production and Safety with SafeBox A leading mining client approached us to evaluate the ROI of our SafeBox Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) system for their long conveyor system. The results speak for themselves. Their current lock-out and re-energization process takes 2 hours per cycle—1 hour to isolate and lock out, and 1 hour to re-energize. Producing 6.5 million tonnes of ore annually (~744 tonnes per hour), each cycle leads to 1,488 tonnes of lost production. With 78 lock-out cycles per year — including scheduled bi-weekly maintenance and emergency services — this translates to 116,064 tonnes of lost ore annually, costing $33.6 million USD at $290 per tonne, the average 2025 price for ore output from this particular mine. Our SafeBox LOTO automation system changes that. By reducing lock-out and energization time to under 60 seconds combined, it nearly eliminates downtime. The system, tailored for this application, includes four SafeBox Master control units, multiple 6.9kV, 800A field isolation devices, and climate-controlled enclosures for extreme conditions, all for a total cost of $1.2 million USD. The return? The system pays for itself in just 13 days. After that, the client can expect an additional 9,672 tonnes of production per month, generating $2.8 million USD in extra monthly revenue.
