Every rural community in Kentucky (that doesn’t already have this) should enact regulatory schema around renewables and data centers right now. ASAP. Every single day - we hear about 1500 acres here, 500 acres there, 2000 acres over here. This is entire state will look like a landscape of ugly data center infrastructure and not much else if communities don’t. No one wants that eventual hellscape. Maybe you decide to allow the build. But at least have some standards.

We didn’t sell *all* our stuff but we did give up a pretty lucrative career, left our business to our partner, and moved to a lower cost state for a simpler life after living in Denver for decades. This, as I’ve learned, is way outside the comfort zone of many, many people. I grew up a military brat so my orientation re: moving is, I guess, different. It doesn’t seem that strange to me to start anew. For many people, uprooting is absolutely unfathomable.

When someone tells you black is white what they are really doing is threatening you. They're confronting you w/ the prospect of having to oppose someone for whom the truth means nothing at all & who values only power. For ordinary people this is an intimidating prospect indeed.

‘Better life decisions’? You asked if it could possibly be a negative to lose the job. Weird comments if not passsing some kind of elitist —and simultaneously —corporatist sentiment. Kinda sounded like you were ‘bringing down’. McDonald’s has been a perfectly good and helpful part-time job for millions of high achieving ‘children’ -who were busy building their futures besides -for many generations now. Despite whatever your perception is of ‘children’ who work there. So yes. It can be a negative to lose a part time job there. It’s been inevitable that these jobs would be lost to tech for awhile now. No reason to be snotty about it.

Listen, I’m 50 and I still remember the ‘Fry Lady’ from my teenage days working the McDonald’s drive thru. She was real difficult. As were others too. Godspeed, Archy. May the people be easier on you than they were on me.

McDonald’s is rolling out an AI model named Archy who will replace human drive-thru attendants. I wonder how many jobs Archy will take from human beings. This job displacement is happening much quicker than most people expected.
