@Unity2030Dickey is heading down to Macon, GA this weekend to play in the @PGFnetwork South Georgia Summer Classic. Our girls are ready to go back out and continue their summer schedule. Follow along or make the short drive down to watch them go compete!
🎓 Choosing a College? Start With Your Values.
One of the biggest mistakes I see athletes make during the recruiting process is chasing a logo, ranking, or division before they identify what truly matters to them.
The right school isn’t always the biggest name.
It’s the place where you can thrive academically, athletically, and personally.
Before you make a commitment, ask yourself:
✅ Does this school support my future career goals?
✅ Do I trust the coaching staff?
✅ Can I see myself fitting into the team culture?
✅ Is there a realistic opportunity to compete?
✅ Does the campus feel like a place I can call home?
✅ Is it a financial fit for my family?
When your recruiting decisions are guided by your values, the process becomes clearer, less stressful, and much more intentional.
Your values are your recruiting compass.
They help you find the right fit—not just the most popular option.
Becky Hammon shares what resilience really means - and why the hard parts are necessary.
"Being resilient is both a character trait and a learned skill."
"The tough part about being resilient is that you can only develop this skill through going through hard stuff."
You can't build resilience in comfort. It only comes through the struggle.
"The amount of times I heard no or had a door shut - was the amount of times I was gonna climb through a chimney or a window. I was gonna bust through something to get to where I needed to go."
"Pressing on became an integral part of my story."
Then she said the line that says it all:
"I wouldn't change the hard parts. Because the hard parts were necessary to build the strength needed for whatever challenge was coming."
Don't run from hard. Embrace the adversity because it's building something in you.
Every setback and challenge is preparing you for what's next.

The little things ARE the big things. Success comes from: • Daily discipline • Repeated habits • Small consistent actions Stack enough great days and your life changes.
Recruiting is hard. For athletes, parents, and coaches.
Coaches have enough hard already. The athletes who make recruiting easy often have an advantage.
✅ Public recruiting profile
✅ Current contact information
✅ Pinned schedule
✅ Working video links
✅ Academics and intended major listed
✅ Prompt responses to communication
✅ Professional social media
✅ Correct jersey number on profiles
✅ Player sheets available
✅ Clear access behind the backstop
✅ Updated schedules when changes happen
✅ Easy-to-find field locations
✅ Positive energy on and off the field
And parents…
❌ Don’t block viewing areas with tents, chairs, or umbrellas
❌ Don’t crowd coaches
❌ Don’t force conversations
❌ Don’t make coaches work to watch your athlete
Every obstacle between a coach and evaluating you is an opportunity for them to move on to the next field.
Make recruiting easy.
There are a lot of coaching changes happening right now, so pay attention.
Before you email, tag, or message a coach, check the school’s current staff directory and recent social media. Know who is where, who coaches your position, and who is even still coaching.
Reaching out to the wrong person makes you look unprepared.
Do your homework before you hit send.
Are you recruiting with a plan… or just hoping?
Are you intentionally targeting schools? Or are you throwing emails and posts against a wall- tagging any and all coaches- and seeing what sticks?
Build a list of schools that actually fit YOU.
✅ Offer your intended major
✅ Are in a location you’d enjoy living
✅ Have the campus size you’re looking for
✅ Fit your family’s budget
✅ Have a softball program and coaching staff you connect with
Don’t stop at 10 dream schools. Build a list with 5–10 schools from each division that fit your goals.
Recruiting isn’t about finding the biggest logo.
It’s about finding the right fit.
Confidence is built through preparation. The little things matter: • Sleep • Recovery • Routines • Planning • Consistency Stack enough great days and confidence becomes automatic.
Talent gets noticed. Being memorable gets remembered. 💡

Good weekend playing up in 16u USSSA State Championship. Team went 5-1, won the title of the champs!
For me, avg .400, OBP .500, caught a runner, and got a compliment from an umpire about my command of the field.
