Listen to their concerns, offer plenty of reassurance, and remind them that while things might feel difficult right now, you’ll work together to figure out a plan 2/ Let them know that even if they didn’t get the results they were hoping for, it doesn’t mean they can’t achieve their goals. There are many routes to success - they might just need to take a different path than they expected 3/ Talk through the options available - whether that’s resitting exams, deferring, taking a year out to gain experience or work, or exploring different courses, universities, or training schemes For extra advice and support, your teenager can call 0800 100 900 to speak to a careers adviser at the National Careers Service.
