Fair concern, preservation should always be handled with expertise and care. But to be fair, the UAE has a strong track record in restoration. Look at Mosul, where the UAE supported the restoration of heritage sites devastated by ISIS, including historic mosques and churches, under international supervision and conservation standards. We also have churches in the UAE that date back nearly 2,000 years, alongside deep experience in preserving heritage and cultural sites. Safe to say, the UAE knows a thing or two about restoration and respecting historical essence.

Fine, as long as their restoration work is carried out by real experts in their field & closely supervised. It's so easy to destroy ancient buildings through insensitive restoration. Once destroyed their essence is lost forever. This mosque is the most special, most beautiful

The IAEA has been informed by the UAE that radiation levels at the Barakah NPP remain normal and no injuries were reported after a drone strike this morning caused a fire in an electrical generator located outside the inner site perimeter of the NPP. Emergency diesel generators are currently providing power to the NPP’s unit 3. The IAEA is following the situation closely and is in constant contact with the UAE authorities, ready to provide assistance if needed. DG @rafaelmgrossi expresses grave concern about the incident and says military activity that threatens nuclear safety is unacceptable. The DG reiterates call for maximum military restraint near any NPP to avoid the danger of a nuclear accident.

We condemn the attacks by Polisario Front in Smara.   Such violence threatens regional stability and the progress made towards peace.   These actions are inconsistent with the spirit of the recent talks.   The time to end this 50-year-old dispute is now.   As affirmed in UNSCR 2797, the Moroccan Autonomy Proposal lays out the path to peace in Western Sahara.  We call on all those resisting peace to genuinely commit to a brighter future. The status quo cannot continue.

In Abu Dhabi, the UAE has completed the world’s largest strategic underground water reservoir beneath the golden dunes of the Liwa Desert. Using advanced Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) technology, the project injects high-quality desalinated water deep underground, protecting it from evaporation and external factors. The massive reserve consists of 315 strategic wells with a daily pumping capacity of up to 100 million liters. With a total storage capacity of 26 billion liters (26 million cubic meters) of premium water, the reservoir can fully supply the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for 90 days in any emergency — a huge leap from the previous reserve that lasted only about two days. The project, which cost AED 1.61 billion (approximately $435 million), represents a major milestone in water security and sustainability. It demonstrates the UAE’s forward-thinking leadership in building resilient infrastructure before crises occur.
