ACP lets you use your existing Codex/Claude Code/OpenCode, etc. subscriptions inside Zed so you can track the agent, click on files to open them directly on Zed, review them directly on Zed, etc. You can use Zed’s agent as well, being able to use any models under one billing is very handy Also this is why I love Zed sm, they let you free to choose anything while giving you the highest performance and the most polished UI to interact with them so you don’t have to leave your IDE
@_avdept You can open multiple tabs on the desktop app without polluting your browser toolbar and idk it feels more comfy?

@saswatadev for my use case LSPs slow down any code editor a lot, maybe it's about that? or maybe you're talking about really big repos like chromium?

@HiteshRohira15 I think I was viewing a huge diff because I was refactoring the whole folder structure on a Next.js project. The diff didn't had too many lines changed but a lot of files changed so I think creating the multi-buffer view was a little harder than usual
Cursor is not an code editor anymore. Zed language servers and agents crash all the time. JetBrains is too slow and agents crash all the time. Installing a theme from VS Code store can potentially infect your computer with malware. Who will fix this?
Yet another reason the Athas project is impressive, it's a solo project! I couldn't imagine working on Zed alone
I know it has a lot of problems, it's hard to do it solo and limited resources (I'm freelancing to make money). But I promise I'm not adding more slop but instead fixing the problems every day slowly.

You like Zed Industries? Their early work (Atom) was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Zed came out in ’21, I think they really came into their own, technically and artistically. The whole GPUI layer has a clear, crisp execution, and a new sheen of consummate
