@fgrub3r The GitHub Copilot integration in Visual Studio has failed to deliver since day one. I don't understand why they haven't switched to the Copilot SDK or literally just embedded the same core as VSCode or Copilot CLI. You're better off using GitHub Copilot separately than inside VS
I barely open Visual Studio anymore, and the weird thing is that I only notice when I'm about to use it again. I just don't think about Visual Studio otherwise

@archiecoder The real long term solution is an agentic debugger that isn't tied to Visual Studio. That's good news because WinDBG isn't even the engine used in Visual Studio and it has more advanced features like time travel debugging: github.com/awakecoding/wi…
@archiecoder It's probably the only feature that makes it worth to open Visual Studio to be honest. Most AI agents instrument code with temporary logging to figure out what happens, otherwise there are MCPs to analyze process dumps, etc.

Is there an issue with GitHub Copilot authentication service right now? I'm signed out of GitHub Copilot app - and re-authorizing fails, there's an issue with the GitHub mobile app as well
@raffaeler One workaround that would work right away is installing multiple versions of PowerShell side-by-side, allowing Visual Studio to kill the "regular" pwsh while your long-lived pwsh processes aren't affected: github.com/Devolutions/mu…
@raffaeler File locking behavior on Windows is very annoying indeed. What version of PowerShell are you using?
@raffaeler I can't really find a good reason why Visual Studio would need to kill pwsh. You should report this to the Visual Studio team, if they have some generic excuse, push back on this - this is obviously a huge pain point and Visual Studio is to be blamed for it, really
