No one has parceled out their bitmap because there hasn’t been a reason to, not because it’s too complicated or expensive. And again, you don’t have to trust your assets to third parties if you don’t want to. You can run a node and do it with a simple batch file. There is no need to implement auth and this other stuff. But do what works best for your platform. In the end, the market will decide. And whatever is adopted will be the right choice.
The only thing that truly drives success is adoption. Look at ETH POW or Bitcoin Cash—ecosystems? Yes. Thriving? No. If a team wants to “change” the Bitmap standard, let them try. In the end, adoption will decide the outcome. And my bet is on parent/child provenance 🟧
I get the idea and agree that lowering the cost of mints will help creators get started on Bitmap. But how will this be indexed? If I understand correctly, the ord indexer won’t recognize these parcels as children of the Bitmap. I assume Trac will handle the indexing, which is good, but not completely reliable as we’ve seen in the past. Do you see any issue with this? As for sending the parent to the inscriber—this has been the standard practice for a while now across the entire ecosystem. There are plenty of trustworthy platforms out there that can create a child in one transaction like the parent never left your wallet. Not to mention people can run ord themselves and do it all with their own node. IMO this problem doesn’t need to be solved. What’s your take on this? I’d love to hear your thoughts and any follow-ups.
@TheBlockRunner What problem does it solve? And why is the community calling it a change? It seems a lot of people think otherwise. Would you mind explaining here or linking to where I can learn more?
