@decimusclaudius @casedeepoca @Ritterton You were lucky, because it was returned early. The exhibition was cut short by the horrific Palisades Fire which damaged the museum’s ground and destroyed over six thousand homes. So many wonderful pieces from Seuthes’ tomb (but no body ever found).

@PROMAKOS_ @mv_arte Look, I do this digitally for a living, and it appears to me that you’ve just used AI to do ‘painting technique’. I don’t see any actual technique, no underpainting, no fidelity to the colors that we know were present (although we just know the underpainting).

If you want to do the hard work of learning painting techniques and manually painting (digitally or on real marble), then go for it. Your version doesn’t even show 3D cuirass details.

@JGMA1977 @PROMAKOS_ The Greeks and Romans had a wide range of pigments, created from (mostly) mineral sources. Plus they could blend to create more colors. Frescos were a riot of color and could be very realistic. The Egyptians did a pretty damned good job with Nefertiti’s bust …
