@joodalooped I guess my add-on is that it's easy to conflate time with experience, when experience requires actual growth hence why the "decades" didn't protect this writer from falling for slop
@joodalooped tough. think it's emblematic that time invested in discipline != good judgement (need continual exposure to new work, esp that which makes you "uncomfortable")
@joodalooped Debated adding /s to the end lol. But now that we're here I will say if I do too much "work" in my head without writing things down (on any surface) it starts to dissolve for me
@angushq@jmaster_888@interaction Same but I would use it again if it becomes more reliable. Rn just using Hermes on a cheap hetzner server for similar use case
@tylerangert@UltraLinx I mean this is basically apple's historical playbook. Let a market mature and then provide a polished version heavily integrated into their ecosystem. Being the hardware/OS is such leverage I think in the long run it won't matter they were "late"
@WriterScience@noahzender I like readwise reader app for RSS, epubs, webpages, it's really well made. My personal rule is every highlight must be an annotation (includes a comment). And fwiw their api lets you send all this to wherever you need.
@Mappletons Snl has a great parody from years back when the play was in the zeitgeist, called Warm Horse. Would probably be extra funny having just seen the production.
@EthanLipnik Couldn’t agree more. I think bc it has just enough friction. I have to slow down when using iPad instead of computer, feels very civilized. And then enough real estate for long form activity that phone doesn’t do well. Feel like a CEO.
@nickbaumann_ Yep just agents as an alternative interface over your existing tools/data. Honestly the more they outsource (interact w data from connectors) the easier it is to audit/verify stuff
@tylerangert It’s also that GUI reveals its affordances/offers navigation benefits, empty box is good for known unknowns (I want to do X but don’t know how). And you can split interactions into the two paths but rn it’s easier to choose the latter. But need both
@bfockter@mitchellh@davidcrawshaw It’s also weird bc LLMs are trained to go straight into implementation. Sometimes I want that first pass, and to treat the process like sculpting. But sometimes need to understand the problem more, and holding back the LLM from acting immediately is actually a real challenge.
@davidcrawshaw@mitchellh Yeah I think of them as multipliers as well - and broadly think of any infrastructural innovation in tech this way. Electricity, the internet, LLMs…
