We have not yet started a migration. Meanwhile if any of you wish to test your own site on the new server before it goes live, let us know.
We are investigating tools to optimize server performance and finalizing hardware configuration.
We expect to migrate to the new server this weekend, and will be posting updates on twitter as we have more information.
All sites are finally back online. We have also commissioned a new server at a much more reliable data center.
Our data center is experiencing a denial-of-service attack. Our server is not affected but network is slow while they respond.
All network problems resolved at data center.
Our Data Center is experiencing network issues and sites are not reachable. We are in contact with DC and will post updates as we have them.
Sites are all loading now, drive is fine, and we are running some routines to resolve remaining errors.
Worst case scenario would be configuring a new drive with our latest backups (1am 3/14/2012). We are hoping to be back up within 2 hours.
Our DC is still working on the issue. However, our drive appears to be damaged. We are running a full check to confirm.
Our data center is having problems that we expect will be resolved shortly. Sites are intermittent at the moment.
Back online now. We will be closely monitoring the situation and mapping out a plan.
We will be upgrading our server over the holidays to address this. We're in the planning stages now.
Server has reached peak load; we are rebooting and bringing back online.
@MediaDemocracy site didn't load for approx. 5 minutes during server overload; was resolved quickly and tuned MySQL to address issue.
Also: because 99% of downtime our server experiences is due to issues at the data center, we are looking into moving to another datacenter.
Server overload approx. 7:05 am PST. Sites had difficulty loading. Resolved by 7:10 PST (5m later) and MySQL optimized to resolve issue.
All sites have been up for a while now and seem stable. Total downtime ~1 hour. Outside our control but we apologize for the inconvenience.
