As a carpenter working in construction, my job requires me to be on my feet all day — climbing, lifting, and working on-site. Right now, I’m unable to work, which means my income has suddenly stopped at the worst possible time. My wife and I have been working incredibly hard to buy our first house. In just a few weeks we are supposed to finalise the purchase. This is a huge milestone for us — our dream of having our own home after years of saving and sacrifice. But this injury has created unexpected financial pressure exactly when we need stability the most. Because I’m self-employed, I don’t have the same sick pay protection as salaried employees. Medical costs, transport to appointments, possible physiotherapy, and especially the lost income while I recover are hitting us hard. We want to go through with buying the house, but we need a little help to bridge this difficult period so we don’t lose the opportunity we’ve worked so long for.
