My comment was a direct response to this nonsense you wrote: "Announcing this now likely means they never did that before and the record of what it is you actually owned sat in a private database". The record of ownership has been on the Flow blockchain since day one. As for IPFS expense, you bring up a strange hypothetical and completely miss the point of IPFS to begin with: it democratizes who pays for it. If Dapper disappears, any one of us can pay for it or run a node. Your framing implies that keeping this data alive is an impossible or excessive expense, which is untrue. Pinning 800 GB on a service like Pinata costs roughly $20 a month. That is a marginal cost for a community to absorb, and if the history of digital storage teaches us anything, that cost will only continue to decrease over time.
Our Moments (metadata) have been minted on the Flow Blockchain since day one. Self-custody options via wallets like Blocto and Flow Wallet have been available to users for nearly five years. The record of ownership has always been public and on-chain, suggesting otherwise is straight misinformation. You're better than that @Bramira_X
