@dubsteron @derjanni They have said the same things about third-party app stores for years as well. Now it's opened up, and I haven't seen reports of negative impacts on those who are not using them. If you don't want to use other AI providers or app stores, how is this even a problem?

By delaying Siri AI in the EU, Apple is trying to turn European users against the DMA. Blaming regulation is easy. Maybe it is a negotiation tactic or rollout tactic to buy more time. They are so late to the AI party that I doubt they'll actually risk losing EU users over this.

@PoeleeW @derjanni Nobody is asking for random apps to get unlimited device access. Apple is more than capable of building this with proper permissions and user consent. They just do not want to, because "security" is also a very convenient way to protect platform control.

@derjanni Never said it was the first thing. But allowing other providers to access my data on my behalf, on my phone, doesn't seem like a weird request. Apple has delayed it by two years now. Of course they don't make money from delay itself. They care about protecting long-term control

We also shipped some bug fixes, most of them backported to 2.x as well. Under the hood we upgraded to TypeScript 6 and swapped ESLint and Prettier for oxlint and oxfmt. Much faster linting and formatting 💨
