This is why you should pay attention in social studies class. The Canadian system of democracy is *not* the same as in the US. Never has been. Not better or worse, just different.

@heather09332768 @dezskills29 It’s a parliamentary democracy. That’s how it works here since 1867. Canadians do not elect a prime minister, they vote for a member of parliament for their riding. The party with a majority of seats or support of a majority of MPs is the governing party, and their leader is PM.

@heather09332768 @dezskills29 It has *always* been this way in canada. We have had at least three previous PMs who were not even MPs when they became PM, including John A. McDonald.

Had lots of fun at a quick photo sesh with @JordyB15375946. I have a fave, but it’s not as important as what she thinks of them. And if anyone is touring in Saskatoon or Edmonton and is interested in a quick photoshoot, hmu. Rates TBD but reasonable while I build my portfolio.
