While the @botanix shutdown is sad, I don't agree with some of their reflections. There is $20B+ of Bitcoin collaterizing loans which could be on Botanix, but viewed it as too risky or simply didn't know it existed. Instead, they use custodial lenders of whom 55% have gone out of business in the last six years. Why? Because I believe Bitcoin DeFi continues presenting its science projects which maximize composability rather then just providing what users actually want. A measurable drop in counterparty risk. Virtual machines with no customer service are never going to provide this. Convince users of this and build distribution. The market is huge.

In U.S. equities, a 4% ownership position is not deemed material enough for public disclosure. $MSTR owning a similar percentage, or even 5%-10%, of Bitcoin does not represent a material risk to Bitcoin. I believe it actually makes Bitcoin more anti-fragile.

In 1903, the French government expelled the Carthusian monks from their monastery in the Alps and seized everything they owned. The monastery. The distillery. The equipment. All of it. There was just one little problem. Only two monks in the entire order knew the recipe for Chartreuse, and they had memorized it. There was nothing written down that the government could take. The French government hired chemists to reverse-engineer it. They analyzed every bottle they could find. They ran every test available to early 20th Century science. They could not replicate it. The liqueur they produced under the Chartreuse name was so inferior that it destroyed the brand almost immediately. Sales collapsed. The company the government set up to produce it went bankrupt in 1929. The monks, meanwhile, had relocated to Tarragona in Spain and were producing the real thing the entire time. In 1929, the same year the French government's operation went under, the monks quietly bought back the rights to their own name and returned to their monastery. The recipe is still known by exactly two monks at any given time. When one dies or becomes too ill to continue, he passes his portion to a successor. The full recipe has never been written down in a form that has left the order. Chartreuse is made from 130 Alpine plants and herbs. The monks tend the distillery themselves. The Astrology of Michael Saylor and MSTR’s Bitcoin Reckoning MSTR was founded on an exact Saturn-Neptune conjunction in 1989. The next Saturn-Neptune conjunction didn’t happen until February 20, 2026. Saturn-Neptune conjunction = reality check. Illusions, dreams, things that don’t actually work all get checked. MSTR became a Bitcoin treasury company after its Saturn Return in 2019. With Saturn-Neptune now activated, the question is: Was that pivot actually real? Or was it just Michael Saylor, a cockroach of the financial system, building fiat financial instruments around the greatest NGU technology in the world? Bitcoin is no gods, no masters. No intermediaries. No trusted third parties. It is perfect money that doesn’t need permission or financial machinery built around it. MSTR is a corporate stock market vehicle built on debt, leverage, financial engineering, and the promise that some guy can fiat the fuck up more than you can. However, I don’t think Saylor is fake. He has Mercury at 2 Aquarius, conjunct Bitcoin’s natal Mercury. That is very powerful synastry. There is a reason he became one of Bitcoin’s most effective spokesmen. So I don’t think the story is just “Saylor is a grifter who gets killed off like every other hero/villain in the decentralization story”. The question is whether MSTR is part of Bitcoin’s destiny, or is it another lesson in fiat financial engineering trying to wrap itself around Bitcoin and control it? Looking ahead, the August 12 solar eclipse is a major chaotic event for both MSTR and Saylor. It’s happening in Leo, conjunct MSTR’s South Node and opposing Saylor’s Aquarius Sun. That is a very “kill your heroes” energy. I don’t necessarily think MSTR dies, but I do think this is a myth-breaking moment. MSTR has its nodal return in January 2027, which could be a point where the path of the world starts to align again with the path MSTR is trying to be on. They own a ton of Bitcoin. If they can survive long enough, they may be able to be carried by that in 2027. So the question is: what breaks when? Are there debt/leverage pressure points coming due before 2027? Can MSTR get super lean and be reborn as a company that adopted Bitcoin for what it actually is? Or does the financial engineering debt leverage rube goldberg machine collapse first?

saying “bitcoin has value only if you use it for transactions” is like saying “owning a gun is only important if you fire it regularly,” or “the second amendment is only important if you own a gun.” nah, censorship resistance is critical even if you are using BTC primarily as a store of value, or if others are using BTC to build digital credit products. the disaster of fiat is predicated on having built a layered money economy atop a manipulable foundation. the base layer matters, even if you never use it. in fact, the higher you build, the more important it is that the ground and foundation far beneath you are stable.

Sorry @mattkratter but Michael Saylor did not invent digital capital. A large swath of bitcoiners have all come to the same conclusion of HODL not circular economy. Reason being is innately from the beginning we believed it was capital not a currency.
