“22 million miles”, no matter how accurately you can somehow arrive at that statistic, is a very silly statistic. By all means, find a scary big number to use, that’s your job. But if it’s too big to imagine, it’s genuinely hard to know if it’s a big deal or not.

VAR is to fix clear and obvious errors, not be a safety net for incompetence. If we're just going to accept the guys on the field are garbage, then every game is going to need 4-5 VAR reviews and we all stand around while somebody in a booth re-referees things. 16/

@MLSRefStats Well, they let him, but this was the most terse and "efficient" he's been in one of these for a long time. Aaaaand didn't point out the most obviously wrong things. Seems like they let him do it but under severe restrictions on what he could say.

@ShlomoShogun ...her hourly rate is astronomical. But what people don't see is that the vast majority of her time is taken up by editing, advertising and meeting potential clients, and training, but she doesn't get paid to do the things which make up the majority of her time in her work.

@ShlomoShogun IMO it's more like being a photographer than a doctor. As a referee, I'm a contractor, not an employee; my only reffing pay comes from match fees. My wife is a wedding photographer, and if you only looked at her time spent taking photographs on wedding days, you'd think...

@ShlomoShogun This would be like saying players only work on gameday, when we all know the players spend waaaay more time training than they do playing. For refs, significantly more time is spent on performance assessment, fitness, and travel than the game itself.
