urdu has a word for the pain of separation that contains, within it, the assumption that reunion is cosmically possible. while english is so spiritually bankrupt it can name the ache but not imagine its end.

Secularism originally meant the freedom of Christian monarchs or princes to choose their religion within Christianity [Catholicism or Lutheranism or Calvinism etc] and the freedom of subjects to choose their religion [again within Christianity] no matter what their king is professing. Secularism has shifting definitions in Indian discourse. 1. Freedom of religion 2. Separation of state from religion 3. All religions are equal 4. Sarva-dharma-sambhava 5. Militant Atheism / rationalism Liberals, Please decide what definition you wanna choose and stick it. Don't shift goalposts. @labstamil
