Days 45...49. Today should've been a SpriteKit post, but I'm not that interested in doing those projects. Although I've watched all of Paul's videos, and it looks fun, it just isn’t for me. Cool things I've learned within these days: - touchesBegan() - UserDefaults

Without UIGlassEffect(style:):

I’m experimenting with Liquid Glass, and I’ve noticed a weird behavior when an item is deleted from UICollectionView. Have any of you dealt with this? If I change it to UIBlurEffect(style:), it works perfectly with the previous materials.

I wasn’t aware that this version could be installed on Sequoia

Day 42 and 43, UIKit edition. Reinstalled Xcode after factory resetting my Mac and had my first contact with iOS 26's Liquid Glass. The alert UI improvement is just, chef's kiss, so nice!

Day 41, UIKit edition. It's a version of Hangman (or a word-guesser). It was my first experience using the Character type, and I struggled with the syntax for let alphabet = Array("ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ") at first.

Spent some needed time with my family and friends. Gotta be back to posting tomorrow.
 I already have the UIKit Milestone 3 completed, which will be tomorrow’s post.

About DispatchQueue, I can only associate it with async image loading or data prefetching. I think I saw a post about someone sending an APN token using it, but that’s all I remember. Are there any other use cases worth mentioning or demonstrating?

Day 39 and 40. These lessons were about DispatchQueue and its Quality of Service (QoS) levels: .userInteractive, .userInitiated, .utility, and .background. Also covered what should be executed in the background and what should be executed on the main thread.

Day 36, UIKit edition. The game is over. That was a fun lesson. I hope that Paul comes back to this project to teach about iOS/iPadOS/macOS responsiveness.

@CarlosBBuild I’m in a period where I’m mixing and matching all three. But honestly, the first and third options are the ones that feel the best. The first when the function name is descriptive enough, and the third when many parameters are needed.

Day 36, UIKit edition. Today involved a lot of programmatic layout configuration. Thankfully, I was already building all my projects that way, but there’s still a lot to learn.

Although this is a simple project, the fact that I gained a better understanding of debugging in Xcode made me excited. I know that, for performance reasons, providing a concrete (or at least a close estimate of) the size is important for virtualized lists.

Day 33, UIKit edition. Made my first HTTP request. The code is still synchronous (which Paul already said that its wrong).

Day 32, UIKit edition. This marks the second milestone on the UIKit path. It's not really a challenge, as most lessons ended up using UITableViewController. Did a little extra with the .actionSheet, but nothing noteworthy. Next time, I’ll try to make the UI feel more modern.

Day 31, SwiftUI edition. In yesterday’s post, I said that I would be posting both versions. Sure, the left one can be done with UIKit. I’m only saying that because the defaults in SwiftUI feel much more modern.

When I finish this one, I'll make a post with both versions side by side, since the UIs are different.

Day 30, SwiftUI edition. Not sure anyone noticed (since I don’t have followers yet), but I’m doing two SwiftUI projects back-to-back. Curiosity got the best of me. When I saw Day 29 was the same as Days 27, 28, and 29 in UIKit, I had to do it.
