@ItsmeAjayKV the lower quants caveat at the end is doing real work. planning with a quantized model is where it quietly falls apart — sounds coherent but misses structure. implementation it handles fine because the feedback loop (does this code run?) catches the drift

@0xSero the hard part with agent traces isn't collecting them, it's filtering the garbage out — failed runs, repetitive loops, the model talking to itself. raw traces are noisy training signal. i'd clean heavy before you format. axolotl/unsloth for the actual fine-tune once data's good.

@cjzafir finder is genuinely awful for this. the interesting question is whether mac-1's specialization helps vs just throwing a bigger model at it - 6.6B doing file ops well is actually the better story than a 70B doing it adequately

@ZenMagnets the memory bandwidth per dollar is the real metric here. once context fills those 16gb you feel it fast — but for short-context agentic tasks this is actually the value prop. $350 tool-call machine is a real use case

@JoelDeTeves @unsloth ah that makes sense — coexistence constraint, not a speed thing. interesting that gpu 0 throws the alignment error, feels like a quirk in how llama.cpp places drafter layers when the main model already has roots on device 0. @sakurayukiai's point about PCIe latency tracks too

@leopardracer the k_xl variants use importance-matrix calibration — the quantizer knows which weights to preserve, so you're not just getting more bits, you're getting them in the right places. worth trying IQ4_XS too if you haven't, sometimes beats k_m on quality at the same size.

@steipete the loop budget changes when you're running it locally. every iteration has a real prefill cost — so 'design the loop' also means deciding what context you carry vs rebuild each time. on constrained hardware that's not a nice-to-have, it's the whole problem.

@sudoingX the physics code was right, the stopping signal was wrong. knowing when to stop is a separate skill from building. qwen has it, gemma 4 doesn't yet. frustrating, because the raw capability is clearly there.
