This is the third or fourth time our family vehicle has been struck by a foreign, uninsured motorist in the last four years. This time it was - and I'm not making this up - a Muslim man on his way home from Mosque. Thankfully, this time no one was in our vehicle. It was parked when he struck it hard enough to launch one tire over the curb into the front yard of the house where our car was parked. Our family vehicle. When it happened to us in 2022 our entire family was in the vehicle (a different one) and our car was totaled. My wife was pregnant with our youngest at the time. Today I asked the officer what would happen to the guy. Would he be arrested? No, just get a ticket. It's a misdemeanor. Will he have a blood test? No, not without probable cause. This is not ok. My family cannot afford to have these reckless, uninsured foreigners smashing into our cars at an average of once a year. We can't. I know part of the answer is deporting them, and I'm all for that, but we need a better fix in the meantime. I pay my monthly car insurance. I pay $218 EVERY MONTH for auto insurance. This guy will get a ticket that could be LESS THAN I PAY IN ONE MONTH FOR CAR INSURANCE. In the meantime, my rates are so high because uninsured drivers smash into people left and right. The don't pay. We pay. This has to change. There need to be significantly higher penalties for uninsured driving, and especially when an uninsured motorist gets in an accident. Was loading the toddler into her car seat this morning. I heard a woman’s voice, nearly yelling, say, “You’re not doing it for the money. You’re doing it for the discipline.” That spoke to me. It was just some lady walking by, on the sidewalk, talking on the phone.

Normalize buying land with your siblings and closest friends and building a place where your families can grow together. Modern isolation isn't how people were meant to live. A few generations ago, extended families often lived just down the road from one another. Meals were shared, support was always nearby, and childcare wasn't a constant concern. Bring back the village.
