Behind the scenes timelapse from testing our new laser scanner.
I used the Shining 3D EinScan HX to do a laser scan of an artifact, then followed it with a traditional photogrammetry scan for verification.
Running both methods side by side helps confirm accuracy and gives us reliable 3D data for museum work.

Two weeks ago at the DeafBlind Contact Center, printed models from Scan the World created an immediate reaction.
Educators and participants could finally hold and explore works like Rodin’s The Thinker and a miniature Colosseum, objects that had previously been out of reach. The response made it clear how powerful tactile access can be.
I wrote a practical guide on how to do the same: how to find, prepare, and print high-quality tactile models from the free Scan the World collection on MyMiniFactory, plus the exact slicer settings we use for durable, touch-friendly classroom results.
If you work in museums, libraries, special education, or makerspaces, it is worth a read:

Just wrapped up an incredible weekend at the Princeton Innovation Conference during Princeton Reunions!
Loved connecting with fellow alumni, innovators, and founders pushing bold ideas forward. Reunions never disappoint
Just back from the Museum Association of New York Conference at the State Museum of New York!
It was great connecting with so many museum leaders and sharing how high-resolution 3D scanning and tactile models can open up collections for research, education, and access.
Huge thanks to everyone I met. Looking forward to exploring ways Museum Scan can support New York’s cultural heritage institutions.
Not sure which objects in your museum collection to prioritize for 3D scanning?
This practical guide gives you a clear framework that balances three key factors: technical scannability, educational value for tours and programs, and conservation priority for fragile or unique pieces.
A simple scoring rubric helps curators, educators, and conservators collaborate, select high-impact items, and launch focused pilots that reduce handling risk while expanding access.
The smart way to build a sustainable 3D scanning program instead of guessing.

Looking to preview metal finishes before casting your next sculpture or replica?
High-resolution 3D scanning makes it simple. Scan once, then test how the object looks in copper, bronze, aluminum, cast iron, oxidized finishes, and more, all in realistic lighting, before any physical fabrication begins.
We recently did this with a detailed pinecone scan: warm organic copper, clean modern aluminum, heavy matte cast iron, classic bronze, and weathered oxidized bronze. The results help artists, fabricators, and museums align expectations early and avoid costly mistakes.
A smarter, faster way to explore creative options and move into production with confidence.

Just returned from the Pennsylvania Association of Museums Conference in State College!
A big thank you to the organizers for an excellent event and to all the speakers for sharing such valuable insights. I came away with a lot of new ideas and inspiration to bring back to our work.
Grateful for the chance to connect with museum colleagues across the state. Looking forward to applying what I learned!

The Smithsonian is 3D scanning America's national treasures and it's a game changer for museums.
Preservation, research, education, and global access just got way easier.
Museums jumping on 3D scanning now will own the future of hybrid exhibits.

Interesting conversation, love the quote at the end. It’s never been a better time to start a company but at the same time never so crowded. Go into underserved spaces and leverage new tech to succeed while others overcrowd the hyped up ones

After a year of team work, we're thrilled to introduce Depth Anything 3 (DA3)! 🚀
Aiming for human-like spatial perception, DA3 extends monocular depth estimation to any-view scenarios, including single images, multi-view images, and video.
In pursuit of minimal modeling, DA3 reveals two key insights:
💎 A plain transformer (e.g., vanilla DINO) is enough. No specialized architecture.
✨ A single depth-ray representation is enough. No complex 3D tasks.
Three series of models have been released: the main DA3 series, a monocular metric estimation series, and a monocular depth estimation series.
The core team members, aside from me: @HaotongLin, Sili Chen, Jun Hao Liew, @donydchen.

We knew very little about how LLMs actually work...until now.
@AnthropicAI just dropped the most insane research paper, detailing some of the ways AI "thinks."
And it's completely different than we thought.
Here are their wild findings: 🧵
Wow, this is the „feel the AGI“- Moment for robotics for me.
Boston dynamics humanoid robots movement looks so clean it’s incredible.
The robot can walk, run, crawl and so much more. I never have thought to see something like this already this year.
I honestly can’t imagine what 2026 has for us!
The strength of your network isn’t measured by the # of people you know, but by the total forces who come to your aid in a time of need.
Better to have a few powerful allies than a horde of idiots.
And the only way to get very powerful allies is to become a very powerful ally.
