Our research found a strong link between higher taxes and labor informality, suggesting that tax increases can shrink the tax base as people quickly shift economic activity off the books. New investigation: Public records from 13 Massachusetts towns show "Nicotine-Free Generation" (NFG) tobacco bans are orchestrated by a state-funded network of activists who scripted hearings, faked grassroots support, and ignored voters who pushed back.
