This is what real digital ownership looks like. @NBATopShot just put every Moment’s video, thumbnail, and metadata on IPFS — independently verifiable by anyone, anywhere, no account needed. Permanent. Verifiable. No single company can take it away. Meanwhile, most platforms still sell licenses, not assets: • @PokemonTCGP — Pokémon TCG Pocket cards? “Licensed, not sold.” No property interest per their ToS. • @Spotify & @netflix — Stream “your” music and shows until the license deal ends or you stop paying. • @Amazon Kindle — “Buy” an ebook? It’s a limited license on supported devices only. • @Steam & console stores — Games are licenses tied to the platform, not owned files. • @Dropppio (Funko) & @Reddit — Digital collectibles sold, then platforms shut down or killed features. • @Adobe & subscription software — Pay monthly or lose access to the tools and files you “own.” Physical media gave us actual ownership. Top Shot just raised the bar for digital. The rest of the industry is still renting us access in walled gardens. Time to stop pretending licenses = ownership. 💉💉🔥🔥

for years many projects promised "decentralized" and "permanent" then quietly stuck the jpegs on a server that could vanish overnight. dapper just put every moment ever minted, officially NBA licensed, on IPFS. videos, art, metadata, all of it. verifiable by anyone with an internet connection. this isn't a move for the next bull run. this is a move for the next decade.

I started buying Pokémon cards a few years ago, around the beginning of the downturn in this crypto cycle. Over the last year, I started seeing platforms like @Beezie and others grow enough that I wanted to give them a try. Multiple platforms sold digital collectibles, then shut down, leaving assets inaccessible. Collectors learned the hard way that buying a digital collectible from a company is not the same as owning one you can prove and hold yourself. Content-addressed storage on IPFS means the file is its own address. Anyone can host it. Anyone can retrieve it. Anyone can authenticate it. No single point of failure.

@Beezie's growth has been fun to watch. I've been using their claw for about a year now & one of their most underrated features is the simple withdrawal process. No wallet management. No paying gas. Just hit a button, pay a $1 fee (if you're willing to wait 3 days), & $ is in your bank account. Simple. That on top of the marketplace, offer system, redemptions for physical, being able to list slabs on @opensea, special vaults where you use your points, & additional activations (with points) coming soon. Apparently, more beyond what has been announced to date.
