The stock market surged today (Dow up ~900 points at one point) largely because President Trump made optimistic comments about Iran negotiations, including saying he had called off planned strikes and that a deal was close. What the “Memorandum of Understanding” (MOU) Actually Means It is not a final peace agreement. It is a preliminary framework: • It would extend the current ceasefire for 60 days. • It would set the stage for further negotiations on key issues (Iran’s nuclear program, the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions relief, etc.). • It includes commitments like reopening shipping through the Strait of Hormuz (with conditions) and steps toward limiting Iran’s nuclear activities. • Both sides still need final approval (Trump and Iran’s leadership). In short: It is an agreement to negotiate and pause fighting for 60 days, not a comprehensive peace deal. Trump has been publicly optimistic, saying talks are at a high level and a signing could be announced soon. Iran has pushed back on some reports, and there is still distrust and haggling over specific terms (especially around the Strait of Hormuz and nuclear stockpiles). I think this is just more “rope a dope“ by Iran, who wants to drag things out to the midterms. #IranWar‌ #Deal #Stocks

Update on my horrible experience with Alamo Car Rental: As I returned the car, the employees at the car return asked me how everything was. I again reiterated the story (as told below). It was interesting, two people checking in our car were both managers. They quickly looked at the record, and after seeing it all, completely comped the 2-week rental. So, that compensated us over $900. After a very bad start, they really wanted to make it right. Kudos to @alamo for hiring managers that have their business at heart. Since I had put out such scathing comments after that first day, I wanted to complete the record.

AI Token Price Cuts — What It Could Mean for Earnings OpenAI is reportedly considering significant reductions in token pricing to compete more aggressively with Anthropic. Sam Altman has also publicly acknowledged that many enterprise customers are currently overspending on tokens and pledged to improve model efficiency. This is an important development. When the leading companies in a high-growth sector begin cutting prices and focusing on efficiency, it is often an early signal of commoditization. The extremely high margins many investors are currently baking into forecasts may come under pressure sooner than expected. Given the very elevated valuations across the AI sector, any slowdown in revenue per token or slower monetization growth could lead to meaningful downward revisions in earnings expectations. After more than 50 years in the markets, I’ve seen this pattern play out before. The shift from scarcity-driven hype to competitive pricing can happen faster than most anticipate.
